  • AAP's You and Your Family (www.aap.org/parents.html) - Health and safety information for parents provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics. A wide range of topics are provided including immunization schedules, passenger safety information, etc.
  • Bright Futures (http://brightfutures.aap.org/web) - Information on current and emerging preventive and health promotion needs of infants, children, adolescents, families, and communities.
  • Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Child Health Advice (www.seattlechildrens.org/parents/health/online.asp) - Informational Web site with guidelines intended to help parents determine how sick their child is and if they need to call the child's doctor.
  • Familydoctor.org (www.familydoctor.org) - Health information for the whole family from the American Academy of Family Physicians.
  • Kidshealth (www.kidshealth.org) - Provides information on a wide range of child health topics such as: growth and development, nutrition, physical activity, pregnancy and newborns, positive parenting and oral health.  The information is divided into three sections designed specifically for parents, kids and teens.
  • Washington's Tobacco Quit Line (www.quitline.com) - A resource for individuals who want help becoming tobacco-free. 
  • WithinReach (www.withinreachwa.org) - The Family Health Hotline, a program of WithinReach, helps families in Washington to access information they need, from pre-pregnancy planning through childhood. 1-800 operators are available Monday - Friday.

  • The Parenting Clinic (www.son.washington.edu/centers/parenting-clinic/) - Provides information on programs designed to increase emotional/social health in children.
  • Parent Trust (www.parenttrust.org) - Web site includes parenting tips and listings for support groups across Washington State.

  • Born Learning Washington (www.earlyeducationcoalition.org/bornlearningwashington.php) - A project by Thrive by Five that supports early learning initiatives.
  • Department of Early Learning (www.del.wa.gov) - Provides information and resources on early learning opportunities.
  • Speech, Language and Hearing – A Guide to Your Baby's Development (http://www1.dshs.wa.gov/pdf/Publications/22-357.pdf) - A booklet that outlines steps in a child's hearing and speaking development. Also provides resources and activities for parents.
  • Talaris Research Institute (www.talaris.org) - Talaris Research Institute is dedicated to discovering how children think, feel and learn. This website provides research spotlights that teach parents more about child development, reading lists for children, a development timeline and other resources.
  • Thrive By Five (www.thrivebyfivewa.org) - Provides information and resources to enhance parent education and support, child care, preschool, and other early learning environments throughout Washington state.
  • Tufts University Child and Family WebGuide (www.cfw.tufts.edu) - The Child & Family WebGuide describes and evaluates Web sites that contain research-based information about child development. These Web sites have been selected from thousands of sites about children, based primarily on the quality of the information provided.

  • Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Vaccine Education Center (www.chop.edu/consumer/jsp/microsite/microsite.jsp?id=75918) - Provides accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date information about childhood vaccines and the diseases they prevent to parents and healthcare professionals.
  • Immunization Action Coalition/Hepatitis B Coalition (www.immunize.org) - Lots of information on immunizations, including downloadable documents on childhood and adult immunizations.
  • National Network for Immunization Information (www.immunizationinfo.org) - The mission of the NNii is to provide the public, health professionals, policy makers, and the media with up-to-date, scientifically valid information related to immunization to help them understand the issues and to make informed decisions.
  • Public Health - Seattle and King County Immunization Program (www.metrokc.gov/health/immunization) - Web site by Public Health - Seattle & King County's Immunization Program provides information on childhood, adult and travel immunizations, and list places in King County to receive immunizations.
  • Vaccines and Immunization (www.cdc.gov/vaccines/) - This site provides updated immunization information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • Washington State Department of Health Immunization Program (www.doh.wa.gov/cfh/immunize) - This site offers a wide variety of information including information on childhood, adolescent, and adult immunizations with specific pages for providers, parents, schools and childcare centers.

  • American Dietetic Association's Nutrition Fact Sheets (www.eatright.org/cps/rde/xchg/ada/hs.xsl/nutrition_350_ENU_HTML.htm) - Covering a wide range of topics these brief fact sheets provide nutrition facts along with eating tips and recipes.
  • Food and Nutrition Information Center (www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/etext/000008.html) - Extensive resource list of Web sites providing information on Child Nutrition and Health.
  • MyPyramid.gov (www.mypyramid.gov) - This website offers personalized eating plans, interactive tools to help plan and assess food choices, advice on food choices and other tips and resources.
  • Washington State Dairy Council (www.eatsmart.org) - This website provides general nutrition information, stresses the importance of consuming dairy products and includes nutrition resources for parents, teachers and children.
  • Women, Infants and Children (www.doh.wa.gov/cfh/WIC/) - The Washington WIC Website. Food, nutrition counseling, and access to health services are provided to low-income women, infants, and children under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, (WIC).

  • National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (www.fatherhood.gov) - Access electronic publications, statistics, media materials, and other resources on the topic of fatherhood and improving the lives of children and families.
  • Parents' Action for Children (www.parentsaction.org) - Parents' Action for Children is a national non-profit dedicated to advancing the interests of families and young children. Parents' Action provides parent education information and videos, stories from other parents and tools to fight for issues such as early education, health care and high quality and affordable child care.
  • Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) (www.pepsgroup.org) - PEPS is a non-profit organization serving parents of children birth to age 3 in the King County area through weekly support groups.
  • Washington State Child Care Resource and Referral Network (www.childcarenet.org) - A network of 17 community-based, private, nonprofit childcare resource and referral agencies across Washington State helping parents find childcare throughout Washington.

  • Public Health - Seattle & King County (www.metrokc.gov/health) - Information from Public Health - Seattle & King County.  This site features "Plain Talk About Child Immunizations," a guide for parents about the benefits, risks and other important issues associated with immunizations.

Immunization Registry Information

  • All Kids Count (www.allkidscount.org) - All Kids Count serves as an important resource for immunization registry efforts nationwide.
  • Every Child By Two (www.ecbt.org) - Every Child By Two works to protect all children from vaccine preventable diseases. This website covers information about vaccinations for children and the importance of immunization registries.
  • IAC's Immunization Registries web page (www.immunize.org/registries) - The Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) culled material about immunization registries from professional journals and government publications and used it to develop a new web page, "Immunization Registries."
  • IIS - Immunization Information Systems (Immunization Registries) (www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/iis/default.htm) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention maintains an IIS to collect, synthesize, and distribute information about immunization registries through a registry Web site.
