HISTORY: Broadening Access to Schools & Head Start/ECEAP

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) piloted expanded registry access to school districts & Head Start in one county in 2004. Those pilot results (.pdf) showed access to registry records saves resources, time and energy for staff and nurses, provides a clear picture of the immunization status of children in schools, and allows more time for everything else busy school staff need to do. In 2006, an Educational Service District piloted a program giving access to multiple sites, in multiple counties. Local Health Jurisdictions and medical practices across the state have expressed their support and need for an expanding registry access to schools & Head Start/ECEAP Programs.
